There cannot be any denial that the Mahagathbandhan, the mega-alliance of opposition parties has come to naught. I had very clearly predicted that parties, which were opposed in principles cannot bond with just one motto to fight Modi.
Shrieks of a lowly and vicious attack that ‘Chowkidar is a chor,’ watchman is a thief, repeatedly after Rafale failed to hold forte as the leading missile of Congress post-Balakot has boomeranged. The counter-offensive of a different ‘Me too’ by prefixing their names with a Chowkidar on their Twitter handles to show their solidarity with the PM has a few million followers already. The exercise though reminds me of a more vicious pattern of tattooing their forearms with the AIADMK symbol of two leaves a few decades ago. It includes a few prominent DMK leaders, who though are seen with their full sleeve shirts in the sweltering heat of Tamil Nadu.
The opposition seems directionless. If Rahul is blabbering about writing off every conceivable loan given to the poor and farmers and at the same breadth is promising to simplify the GST and making it better from the existing five slabs. It starts with a zero slab, then 5,12,18 and a high of 28, I guess. Most of the items are under 12 and 18% GST. Reduction of GST would have its adverse implication on the sops being promised, which is bound to grow in the absence of jobs. The Congress president has remained tightly lipped about creating jobs, which he knows well is easier said than done.
The other lowly by the Congress chief was when he wondered aloud in a poll meet as to why all thieves have to be a Modi? It is by far the worst expression of a bad upbringing by a pseudo-Gandhi, whose family stole right from the name of the Mahatma to everything that they lay their eyes in India. I know it is impossible to train this intelligent guy anymore, but can anyone from his party not shut him up for a while?
Then there is another leader, who is challenging Modi on the recitation of Mantras. Gods are indeed shuddering at the prospect of hearing heavily accented mantras. Please leave the gods in peace, would be my advice.
The more I hear that they are hoping to form the government, I feel more pity at the height of sycophancy, in their attempt to please the family. Indeed, the Congress party could have done better with a better leader. Goa is an example, even as the CM Parikkar’s body lay in the state, gleeful Congressmen bare their teeth and claim that they now have the majority.
Congress is still basking in the glory of their win in the three states assemblies, but the snub the party leadership has received from the hands of the leaders from most crucial state, UP must by itself wake them up. NCP, Shiv Sena have all bolted, and many leaders are on edge, appalled at the possible poll rout of their party and their fortunes.
It’s just the game they played bad, as Modi had nothing much to boast of various fronts, but the country apparently finds him a better option than a mere lampooning hare-brained juvenile. I’m going to be around, and I hope I may not prove wrong.
