The severe economic woes facing the country are increasingly coming under the closer focus of rating agencies, the latest being Moody to downgrade their outlook for India from the earlier ‘stable’ to ‘negative.’
Maharashtra, the financial capital of India, is now without an elected government as the two partners, BJP and Shiv Sena, who had fought the elections are in a bitter and acrimonious power-hungry battle in the name of service to the nation.
All these have taken a backseat in the wake of another great challenge the nation would be facing today. A five-member-bench in the Supreme Court will be delivering its Final judgement on Ayodhya at 10.30 AM IST. In an unprecedented move, the court yesterday reviewed the law and order situation in the State of Uttar Pradesh.
I do not want to load this post with the number of malnutrition deaths of children, child marriages, female infanticides, farmer suicides etc. I am afraid that the religious prejudices and bigotry, unseen at any time are critically challenging the growth of India. We are fighting over the birthplace of Rama, our God, claiming at the same breath that he is omnipresent and covers the entire cosmos.
Prayers and meditation in our lives are essential, but pushing the nation into religious zealotry is detrimental to its very foundation and will seriously undermine the scientific minds. One example is the gold found in cow urine. If a few million litres of urine is to be collected and treated to get a gram of gold, will it at all be feasible and economical? Motormouth leaders must instantly learn to speak lesser, even better to keep quiet if they are intelligent.
If we have moved the court, like we are in a race, there can be but one winner, even if it is a photo-finish win. It bears upon the community, in whose favour the verdict comes out to assuage the losers and to defeat all attempts to disrupt peace and harmony, which is the backbone of our country’s existence.
Sulking over the historical invaders, colonial masters and clamour for revenge is a political trap. It could lead the nation into anarchy and chaos, which might be the scenario our enemies would desire and rejoice over. The Ayodhya dispute too will pass soon into oblivion and become a distant memory, as the nation heads for greater heights and our faith in God will continue to remain firmer than ever.
Today is a day when the real sense of sacrifice by Indians will be witnessed, and disruptive political and other elements kept under leash.
Now, over to the Lordships!
Jai Hind.
