When constitutional leaders begin reacting like dons, the nation gets embarrassed. I refer to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s warning to ‘love-jihadists, and the related religious conversions, often of Hindu girls to Islam for luring them into a marriage. He was speaking in Malhani, Jaunpur, where a by-election will be held for an Assembly seat on November 3. The Chief Minister also said the Allahabad High Court had ruled that religious conversion for marriage is not necessary.
Just the other day, I wrote on the horrendous beheadings in France, carried out by Islamic terrorists. Every person considering themselves righteous regardless of their political affiliation must step up to condemn the cruel acts.
I do not have the statistics on Love Jihad, Muslim boys marrying Hindu girls, but there are also cases of Hindu boys marrying Muslim girls. Can any statute stop these marriages? I guess not. Notwithstanding, India must not become like Pakistan, abducting young non-Muslim girls and forcing them into marriage after forced religious conversions. But did not have any laws to combat them? Was it lack of laws or lack of enforcement or will that affects the system?
The Hon’ble CM of U.P., Yogi ji warned those waging “love jihad” to mend their ways or be prepared for their last journey — “Ram Naam Satya hai ki yatra nikalne waali hai”. Ram Naam Satya Hai is chanted usually while carrying corpses for cremation. I have not heard the slogan uttered anytime in a temple or in any pious occasion, where Jai Siya Ram or Jai Shri Ram is chanted. The ‘Ram Naam Satya Hai’ chant, is to remind the mortality of our lives, while the name of Rama is the one forever immortal.
There is no lack of laws to stop forced religious conversion for the sake of marriages in India. Leaders must rely on our constitution and laws than on religious responses to such criminal acts. I wish to remember U.P. for the infrastructure build instead (The Ganga expressway like in the Pic.)
