Route one, reasons many!
A few and far between West Bengal legislators ever shifted their political allegiances, either before or after an election. In a rewritten rule, we now witness many crossing over, mostly from the ruling TMC to the BJP. What could be their reasons, compulsion or motivation?
1) The fear of an apparent defeat of TMC in the coming elections?
2) Lack of leadership in the TMC?
3) Opposed to TMC dynastic rise?
4) Opposed to rampant corruption?
5) Not getting their rightful share of cut-money?
6) Convinced about BJP’s victory and betting on the winning horse?
7) Enchanted about PM Modi?
8) Disenchanted with Didi?
9) Disgusted with TMC’s narratives of divisive politics by the BJP?
10) Excessive appeasement of the minorities?
11) TMC’s stand on CAA, NRC?
12) Afraid of the damage being done to Bengali ethos?
13) Afraid about the State’s stagnant economy?
14) Fear of State’s continued isolation?
15)Fearing the future of their next generation?
16) Opposed to a strangulating coterie within their party?
17) Fear of arrest and prosecution in past scams or sting?
18) Opposed to the ‘outsiders’ barb by TMC?
19) Concerned about educational standards?
20) Hoping for a higher standard of politics in the BJP?
There could be more reasons, known and unknown. I welcome add-ons.
