On the 19th September 2017, Pakistan backed Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists attacked an administrative building in the Uri army camp, resulting in the death of 19 soldiers, most of them sleeping in their tents in the night.
The nation seethed in anger when Special commandos of the Indian army in retaliation crossed the LOC on choppers, entering the South Pir Panjal range of Pakistan occupied Kashmir on the night of 28-29 September 2017. The next day India announced having conducted a surgical strike, destroying terror launch pads and killing 38 terrorists. The operation was completed in 4 hours.
Characteristic of gutter politics, the opposition acted doubting toms and accusing the government of lying to the nation. Vanquished Pakistan, licking its wounds too cashing on the criticism of our opposition parties, claimed the surgical strikes were bogus, trying to redeem their image back home.
Now the government is celebrating the anniversary of the surgical strike and the pseudo-patriots branding those who are not participating as anti-national.
Compared to 38 soldiers killed in Kashmir in 2016, 70 were killed in the year following the surgical strike. As against 100 terrorists killed in 2016. 180 have been eliminated in 2017. This proves that no lesson has been learnt by Pakistan or the terrorists they back as there have been 450 terrorist strikes on the army since the surgical strike.
Israel spares no time in retaliation on terrorism and attacks and comparatively, we have been complacent and the leaders of the opposition parties showing bizarre opportunistic behaviour. All that is needed is one robust and decisive action, dismantling their nuclear teeth, which would put Pakistan tamer and quieter for decades to come and which could save the situation for us in Kashmir.
The surgical strike, though laudable, was not any war won with Pakistan, like in 1965, 1971 or the Kargil war of 1999. It was not even a battle of sorts. It was an unannounced strike inside our own country held in the custody of Pakistan, dismantling terror camps and killing a few terrorists. We must go in more often, to destroy terrorists’ launch pads and also to proclaim that POK rightfully belongs to India!
Jai Hind!
